Automatically Verify Absence of Voltage with 6 Steps in 10 Seconds
Panduit VeriSafe™ Absence of Voltage Tester
A voltage verification test is required when servicing electrical equipment to validate the absence of voltage. This is mandated by NFPA 70E, requiring workers to verify that equipment is in an electrically safe state, including the absence of voltage test.
There are two common tools to measure absence of voltage – portable and permanent testers. With portable absence of voltage testers, the electrical worker performs the steps manually. These steps include: testing the tester, checking for voltage, retesting the tester, and finally performing the work. The first three steps pose possible exposure to electrical hazards for the worker. This is also a very time-consuming process and leaves room for human error.
Permanent test solutions such as the advanced Panduit VeriSafe ™ Absence of Voltage Tester, a fail-safe and reliable solution that automatically performs the steps before an electrical worker opens the electrical control panel. The VeriSafe ™ tester performs the six-step testing process in about ten seconds, enabling your plant to operate faster, safer, and more efficiently. The absence of voltage tester is designed to verify that a circuit is de-energized prior to opening an electrical enclosure containing electrical conductors and circuit parts.
The Panduit VeriSafe ™ Absence of Voltage Tester:
- Reduces the risk of electrical exposure
- Automatically performs the steps in the sequence based on the steps in NFPA 70E for verification of an electrically-safe environment
- Satisfies requirements for permanently-mounted test devices in NFPA 70E-2018 120.5 (7)
- Reduces the time it takes an electrical worker to verify absence of voltage and determine an electrically-safe environment
How Does the VeriSafe ™ Absence of Voltage Tester Work?
Once the tester is installed, a push of a button enables electrical workers to verify absence of voltage and see an active indication when the absence of voltage is confirmed. Watch the video below for a step-by-step process.
The VeriSafe ™ Absence of Voltage Tester tests each phase conductor or circuit part phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground for absence of voltage. The tester can be installed on line or the load side of electrical disconnect. It was designed to test 3 phase circuits up to 600V while detecting the presence of AC and DC voltage, making it flexible in a variety of applications.
