Employee Spotlight on Ryan Kucksdorf
Ryan Kucksdorf has been with Lakeland Engineering for a remarkable nine years, which includes a transformative two-year period as a Management Trainee. During this time, he had the opportunity to delve into various business units, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the different aspects of each organization.
His journey into the industry began shortly after college through a hiring agency. Initially seeking employment post-graduation, he discovered a deeper interest in the valuable assistance that Lakeland provides to its diverse customer base. Entering the industry with minimal knowledge, he has since grown exponentially in both knowledge and experience. This growth is attributed to the collaborative efforts of the entire Lakeland team, along with the support of our suppliers and customers.
What Doesn’t He Do?
While his unofficial title to those around the office is jokingly Mike Eck’s assistant, the reality is, Ryan is involved in nearly every aspect of the business. From hands-on tasks in the warehouse to managing incoming products, answering calls from suppliers and customers, and ensuring the overall functionality of the building, he plays a versatile role. Everyone at Lakeland would agree that he is the go-to person in our office – always ready with a helping hand and unwavering support.
Ryan primarily covers customers falling within the contractor category, specializing in renting electrical test equipment. “Currently, I don’t hold any major certifications, but I proudly bear the honorary title of a jack of all trades, master of none,” Ryan explains. “My frequent problem-solving involves assisting customers in determining power usage at electrical panels. I often recommend our Dent ElitePro Power meters for power monitoring studies or help them find the right electrical test equipment for their specific needs.” In the past, he collaborated with a supplier to locate a replacement for a hard-to-find remote stop enclosed pushbutton assembly, showcasing our commitment to customer satisfaction.
“As cliché as it is to say, Lakeland Engineering really is like a family. We may not always agree, but we’re always ready to step up and help each other,” Ryan said, when asked about his favorite part of working at Lakeland. “Our resilience and teamwork, especially during challenging times like the COVID pandemic, set us apart. We work hard to ensure everyone has a voice in our pursuit of success.”
Life Beyond the Workplace
Outside of work, Ryan cherishes moments with his wife Alyssa, their 3.5-year-old son Oliver, and two dogs, Maisy and Stella. Whether it’s visiting grandparents in Wisconsin, streaming shows at home, playing video games, or enjoying time at the paintball field, he values a well-rounded life beyond the workplace.
